After a long career in nutrition and medical education – including clinical care, teaching, research, and leadership – Sylvia served four years (2008-2012) in a statewide leadership role in a multi-institution higher education system. As part of her consulting role, Sylvia has contracted for up to one-year temporary replacement positions, including serving as Interim Provost for The University of Montana – Western from 7/2015-6/2016. Sylvia’s extensive experience, informed further by purposeful leadership fellowships from the Kellogg Foundation and the American Council on Education, gives her a perspective on public higher education that focuses on preparing for the future through innovative and ethical approaches, decisions, and alliances.
Sylvia has a reputation for bringing together people with differing views to gain consensus on strategic plans and processes to achieve a collective vision and move forward.
